The ORIGINAL publishing industry

Humans are a social creatures.

Since our earliest societies, we have found ways to communicate and share ideas.

This is what publishing is; the technology we use to can share our ideas - be it carvings in stone, paint on walls, ink in books, or code on hard drive.

Since the first idea was communicated, we have searched for new and more effective ways to spread our ideas.

When Clay Shirky talks about the end of the publishing industry, what he is really talking about is the decline in old publishing technology, and the business industries associated with it.

Simply put, the rise in digital has provided us with a more effective way to spread our ideas.
