All Saints, Cottesbrooke
All Saints church in Cottersbrooke, Northants, is included in "England's Thousand Best Churches" by Simon Jenkins principally because of the "family pew" of the Langhams, and the mausoleum that adjoins this. The Langhams were the owners of Cottesbrooke Hall, after purchasing this property from the Redes. The church is full of monuments to both Redes and Langhams, and this is the tomb of Sir John Langham, who died in 1671, and his wife. The effigies were carved (from white and grey marble) by Thomas Cartwright senior, who was paid £276 for it in 1676.
