Homicide in Buffalo
It seems the vast majority of Buffalo homicide victims don't have streetside memorials put out for them. So for 2016 I'm going to try to document them all by placing a single candle at or near where they were murdered. This candle is for 32 year old Karon Slaughter, a Cheektowaga resident who was shot at an unknown location December 23rd 2015 but later died at ECMC on January 10th 2016. ECMC is in the background. ECMC is the only hospital in Western New York with a trauma center. Karon Slaughter was Buffalos first homicide of 2016.

A Cheektowaga man who suffered a gunshot wound in Buffalo on Dec. 23 has become the first homicide victim of 2016, Buffalo police said Tuesday.
Karon Slaughter, 32, died Sunday at Erie County Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since he was wounded. Homicide detectives say he arrived at the medical center on Dec. 23 in a private vehicle shortly after he was shot.
The exact location and other circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, according to detectives.
Though Slaughter suffered the gunshot in 2015, his homicide is counted for this year, police said.
