Saturday January 7th 2012 marks EXACTLY 10 years since the last Leyland Atlanteans ran in revenue earning service in Greater Manchester. On the day preserved Atlantean 4622 will be leaving Bolton, Blackhorse Street at 10.00 on the 28 route and then will be retracing 8763s last journey, the 10.56 39 service from Piccadilly to Leigh Bus Station, arriving at approx 12.00, with the buses then running dead to, and past the site of the old Crook Street depot in Bolton before undertaking 1 trip on the 506/7 circular (4740s last journey) and one final early afternoon journey on the 519 Johnston Fold service (4721s last ever journey) before final photos on Moor Lane (the road). Now exactly as per "10 Years On" in August, all the gremlins are hard at work.
8508 is not taxed and cannot be retaxed in time. It therefore will be unable to participate.
8763 has a charging fault which is proving troublesome to locate. All the stops are being pulled out, but no promises. Last news is that its doubtfull if 8763 will be there. :+(
4622 has decided to break its radiator mountings. A replacement radiator awaits fitting, if it can be moved into works and time taken off work to fit it. Again all the stops are being pulled out, but no promises.
4622 now has its new radiator, Im just about to climb in the barff and scrape off the tons of thick black grease!!
