Umiam Dam- opening the flood gates
A picture from my slide archives. Kodachrome taken in August 1987, at a time when it rained continuously for days in and aroudn Shillong. The Umiam reservoir was over flowing and all the flood gates had to be opened to release the pent up waters. They flowed out with a roar of several jets. Picture was taken from the dam.
The bridge in the middle has been dismantled now. That was for the old road.
