Smilin' Gator

Choke Canyon State Park/Reservoir has a number of large alligators. We went out in the boat to find some to show the grandsons and it wasn't much of a challenge to spot one sunning on the shoreline. This is a big one (12-14 feet long). After cutting the big motor we used the trolling motor to get closer without spooking him. He cooperated for a while before making a sudden surge into the water creating a huge splash. I had no idea they were so fast. Explore pg 18.
