flood

After months of drought we have been getting some nice ground soaking rains, but yesterday we got a LOT of rain! I have included a photo from November 2nd of the same pond. The dock in that photo is almost completely out of water. The pond in the second photo looks like a big muddy puddle, but this photo is the opposite extreme! I took it just before dark and it was still raining pretty hard so I think the flood may have completely covered the dock a bit later which would be the first time ever since I had it built some years ago! You can see the water going out of the pond on the right. It was designed with a low point to do just that because then the water goes out there, curves around next to the driveway and flows back into the creek. Works really well! These are two extremes, taken about 2 months apart. Oh, and the reason you can't see Old Rag mountain in the background of the second photo was because it was covered with forest fire smoke! The world is upside down now...... I will catch up with every ones photos as soon as I can, but I've had the little Princess Tornado with me the last two days and nights and honestly, just having too much fun to be on the computer as much! LOL
