Abandoned
An abandoned hornets nest about the size of a basketball. At least, I think hornet? A google search said it was anyway. There are two of them in the trees, only visible now that the leaves have gone. This one really looks the worse for wear with holes throughout. Still, they are marvels of engineering I think! Typically only used for one season. They never bothered me and this was a stellar year for me as I was not stung one time!
