Sycamore Tree

For some reason this year I have really been noticing just how beautiful Sycamore trees are. They stand out with their white bark in a sea of otherwise grey/brown trees. This one was a lone standout in a field near Durban West Virginia. Here is some info on the trees: The sycamore tree is the largest deciduous trees in the Eastern United States. It grows to 30 meters tall and lives nearly 600 years. The bark is brittle and can't accommodate the fast growth and annual diameter accruals of the trunk and branches, so it cracks and exfoliates. I always think of Mama Cass Elliot and her song of Dream a little Dream. To enjoy a funny version of the song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZw3bo-AD5g
