Macro Mondays: Rock
I believe this is a Citrine Quartz rock. I found it in my yard where it "grows" abundantly! This piece is sitting on top of a flashlight and so appears to glow from within. Quartz : Quartz is an important mineral with numerous uses. Sand, which is composed of tiny Quartz pebbles, is the primary ingredient for the manufacture of glass. Transparent Rock Crystal has many electronic uses; it is used as oscillators in radios, watches, and pressure gauges, and in the study of optics. I also learned that the original Americans used it for arrowheads because it does chip easily.
