Time to stock up…….
When Ma was a child, the tradition was to stock up on groceries a few days before the Chinese New Year…….really really stock like GrandMa having a separate freezer just for the extra groceries! That’s because it was then the norm for all the stores to close for at least 7 days during the New Year! Everything would be closed…….the grocers, coffee shops, restaurants, supermarket, department stores…….everything!!!
Of course in today’s context, it’s totally different, stores remain open, maybe just slightly earlier closing hours…….
