Marshall YRQ
Although the picture is very tightly cropped there is no doubt as to the location, Cambridge Airport. Marshall’s of Cambridge (Coachbuilders) Ltd showing a BET-style ‘Camagna’ body on the then new Bedford YRQ mid-engined chassis. If the livery is a guide the customer was Hedingham Omnibuses and sources confirm it is the first of the two they had, L76 (STW771K), delivered in May 1972 as it has coach seats and a smaller destination box, L77 (VWC477L) had bus seating and a deeper blind box with a three-track number blind. Although L77 was the last Marshall-bodied YRQ D. R. MacGregor purchased for his company, he did also buy L81 (YNO481L) the only Bedford YRT with a Marshall Camair body.
