Halictus tumulorum male underside - Elveden Centerparc, Suffolk

Colour of the trochanters is often cited as a way of separating H. tumulorum (trochanters usually dark) from H. confusus (trochanters usually yellow). This specimen, confirmed using genitalia, shows that this is not reliable.
