Something New 12: Cedar Branch with swelling buds - Direct Scan

Drawing time today’s been given over to finishing the “painting” of my pencil drawing for Colored Pencil 1 -- which was supposed to have been finished in December. Wednesday is the second session of the advanced class and I’d really like to have this done and my new drawing started! I took a break when I thought I’d go pie-eyed and went for a walk. Spotted several cedars; one was turning an interesting pale orange in patches. Up close, I could see the buds swelling, so I brought a bit home to keep an eye on (and maybe draw). For fun, I photocopied it live. That worked so well, I scanned it, too. Getting the end of the stem on the glass and weighting down the lid helped with focus and brightened the background.

What’s new: direct copying and scanning, from a live specimen.
