Notifications menu

View in Large (1024 x 424). To bring this box up you simply click on a notification. If you don't have a notification present to click, a small icon will pop up in the right corner of the page on rollover that will bring up the menu shown in the screenshot above. It's pretty straight forward, all your responses from interacting with Yahoo! Answers are sorted and archived here! And you don't even have to leave the page to see it all briefly.

Navigation is easy as. Just click one of the tabs going horizontally across the top to view activity directed at you in the area. There's:

Best answers

See your answers that have been voted best in other people's questions. See other people's answers which need voting for a best (which will be archived here) and best answers in your network. Very simple.

New answers

Any new answers to any of your questions are nicely sorted here. Don't lose track! Like with Best answers, a filter will be available across the top underneath the main navigation tabs. The filter sorts answers from people in your network and people who aren't, people who have answered quite a few your questions on previous occasions, or only recently, top contributor answers (answers from Yamsters or Yahoo! staff will be sorted in with top contributors) and finally on the right a drop-down box will be present in which you can choose to simply browse archives, from oldest to newest, and in different categories.

Network adds

Take a squeaky-peak at the thumbnail image of the user who has added you and an outline of their basic achievements on Yahoo! Answers (unless they've hidden it so not even you can see). You can reject and accept adds and directly contact the people through here as well. This is not your main contacts section, though, but you can still browse contacts through the time and date they added you.

Ratings

Sort ratings you've received in your answers! This is a TU and TD, basically. It won't show the user who has rated your question by default unless they choose so through some new settings in their Y!A Account. But it's not recommended. It's built to be an anonymous feature. Here you can learn how much appreciation your answers have gotten from not just the asker, but other answerers. By default notifications out of the whole notifications menu are not present for ratings. If they were, you may get far too many notifications, especially if you answer popular questions which everybody sees the answers for!

The filters available allow you to sort ratings you've got in specific or all categories and by time and date given.

That isn't all, though. Through here you can directly view users who have marked your questions as 'Interesting'. Filter by category, time and date.

Violations

Ooh! You don't want any in here! But sometimes people just can't help but slip, and give a useless, angry answer, spam, or troll-worthy response. If you are caught red-handed in 'Violations' you'll now be able to view what question you received the violation for and how many points were lost. But that's all! The reporter is anonymous.

Calendar

This is explained someplace else.

Control notifications

Control the notifications you receive in the blue space on the right! Choose what you want appearing there or not, set limits to how many can appear and in what time period they are allowed to appear. Sorting options are necessary, too, if you want your side notifications compressed more. E.g. 3 new people added you to their network. That is, if you're really popular!
