Kitchen fireplace
The first floor apartment, which is described as the Kitchen on the information boards and as the Hall by Tranter, was probably a combination of both. The fireplace in this room has a recess to the left, no doubt for keeping the salt in, which could be accessed from either the inside or the outside of the fireplace. The original fire-basket from the fireplace is now at Dunollie House.
