Plewlands House (5 of 5)

Internally, has been greatly altered over the years, to suit changing needs. The laigh floor in the west end of the main block had a vaulted ceiling, but this has now been leveled. The apartments are roomy and numerous, some retaining their original moulded fireplaces.

Plewlands was in danger of being demolished 60 or so years ago and a vigorous campaign was mounted to save it. It was subsequently restored by the National Trust in 1955 and divided into seven flats.
