Dalcross Castle (4 of 4)
The main entrance (with its fine studded door), photographed from what was once a courtyard, is in the foot of the stair-tower, and is equipped with an iron yett and draw-bar and is well defended by splayed gunloops. In the heraldic panel directly above are displayed the arms of Mackintosh and the date 1720 - all of which has been added since the castle was built. Nearby are the Fraser arms and the initials L.S.F. for Lord Simon Fraser. The basement contains a number of vaulted cellars and a kitchen with the usual huge fireplace. The Hall occupies the 1st floor of the south wing (the window on the left of this photo).
