Diversion

A little over a mile above Lapubesi, a river (the Naulikhola) comes in from the west and is crossed by a suspension bridge, however the track after that has been damaged by the earthquake, so we have been diverted down onto the sand flats beside the river. The bridge ahead provides access to villages up the hillside to the east, so is not for us.

 

These sand flats are fairly rare and only occur where the river has been partially blocked by a major landslide.
