Pellon paper
You can use either Pellon brand "heavy duty wonder under" paper or "Heat 'n Bond" -- both available at Joann's and elsewhere. My store was out of Heat 'n Bond so I got Pellon. I was told that they work the exact same way.
I printed out two large numbers using "Miriam" font. I forget the size but I they ended up 4" or so high. Be careful in choosing the size... too small and they can't be seen easily; too large and you can only read it if the child is standing up.
I cut the number papers into smaller squares, and cut Pellon paper to match those sizes.
