Protector

This Australian native bird, a Masked Lapwing, previously known as a Masked or Spur-winged Plover, or simply a Plover, was protecting a nest in the grounds of a church at Gosford on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Not long after this shot was taken, it began swooping on people who came too close.
