June 2011 Total Lunar Eclipse

The June 2011 Total Lunar Eclipse as seen from Adelaide. Composite of photos taken from a fixed tripod position roughly every 3 minutes, with some variability due to patchy cloud cover.

This sequence of exposures begins just as the moon enters the main umbral shadow of the Earth, and ends just over an hour later as the eclipse reaches totality.

The totality lasted 100 minutes and then the exit from the umbral shadow a further hour but I didn't stay awake to photograph all of it.

Exposures: 1/40s to 5s, f/4.5 ISO100

Camera: PENTAX K10D

Lens: Pentax DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 WR @ 80mm
