(Birth place of the BBC TV programme " Songs of Praise " Oct 1st 1961.)
Paul Gregson says:See, you can re-organise the interior without having to loose the organ. (Even though you do need step ladders now, to reach the console.)
Paul Gregson says:I have said it before in my galleries, and I will say it again...I AM MOVING TO WALES where the sun shines so bright and often, all the chapels have BLINDS at the windows !
Paul Gregson says:What a fine looking building. We have here what is "called" an "upper and lower case pulpit" (there are two pulpits.) Shame about the F/ tube lighting, I am pleased it isn't switched on. Note the stair way to the gallery on the left.
Paul Gregson says:Note how the bannister rail widens half way. This is to allow a crossing place for preachers, as one goes up, and the other comes down. ( I jest of course ! ) Fantastic carpentry work.
Paul Gregson says:A "High Gothic" Independent Chapel ( now URC ) Unusual to find he choir seating in this style, but with such a large church, it is perfect. ( As long as you have a big enough choir to fill it. )
