Caridina simoni simoni

Tiny, delicate shrimp. Transparent, sometimes has slightly pigmentation, from gold to light brown, or sometimes green. Sometimes on the ridge you can see a slim black or brown line and vertical stripes on the dorsal part of carapax.

Origin: Sri Lanka. Occurs also (probably introduced)on Java island, Sumatra Island, Philippines, Guinea and Malaysia.

Size: Males 1,8 cm, females 2 cm.

Water conditions: In the natural habitat: 30 C, pH 5,2, GH and KH below 1. In tanks Caridina simoni simoni can be kept in less extreme conditions, and even (not confirmed information) in alkaline water, but we have to remember that it prefers acid or neutral water, with additions of tannic acids. In alkaline water it's much less resistant and it's harder to breed it.

Tank layout: They like tanks with sand substrate, lots of plants and roots. It is recommended to put beech or oak leafs on the bottom.

Food: Algae, artificial aliments with spirulin.

Breeding:No larvae stadium. Female carries round 30 quite big dark green eggs for about 3 weeks.
