The End of Sobriety

It didn't come as a particular surprise, but I noticed that I was drinking and smoking a little more than I was happy about. I was especially sensitive to this fact after reading Infinite Jest.

So I figured: what better place to take a break from both booze and cigarettes than Switzerland, the land of natural beauty, fresh air, and exhorbitant prices. The abstinence also served as a bit of test for myself, to see how my body reacted to the lack of substances.

The conclusion? I didn't miss alcohol much at all and there were moments when I would've loved to smoke a cigarette, but the feeling quickly went away. It was a pretty short test, but the results were pretty comforting.

But now, I'm in Munich.

And in Munich, beer must happen.
