PHILLAUR: Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha has announced to organize” Rail Roko Agitation” in eight states of the country on April 3 to impress upon the UPA government to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Committee and provide Rs 500 bonus per quintal on wheat.

 

This was announced by Morcha National General Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal,while talking to newsmen here.

 

He said the one-day Rail Blockade would be held in eight wheat producing states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttakhand. He said that this would be a symbolic protest and would serve as a warning to the Congress led UPA Government to accept the Demands of the farming community.

 

Grewal announced If the UPA Government failed to accept these demands a “Kisan Sansad” Parliament of Farmers would be convened in New Delhi in May parallel to the proceedings in the Parliament session.

 

He said that in this Farmer Parliament the leaders of various farmers’ organisations from all over the country would be invited in the Kisan Sansad to discuss their problems and Demands. Grewal said that a blueprint for a larger agitation of farmers would also be prepared in this congregation of Kisan Sansad. Grewal told that during the Rail Roko agitation on April three, Rail Traffic in Punjab would be blocked at Amritsar, Bathinda, Sangrur and Sahnewal.
