Room For London - Kris Mitchell
A design entry which ran alongside the submission brief, Room For London on the South bank, London. Design and overseen to meet requirements, my final submission is as seen below:
A Voronoi diagram is a special kind of decomposition of a metric space determined by distances to a specified discrete set of objects in the space, e.g. by a certain set of points. This computational geometric algorithm leads to a ease of three dimensional forms, therefore introduces an efficiency in computer-aided design and also into manufacturing. The resulting modules consequently fit perfectly one on to another, with no geometric errors, they facilitate easy handling, rapid assembling or dissembling and reuse.
Phase 1_ Spacial breakdown of mathematical cells to form new geometric organization.
Phase 2_ Site specific subtraction from current sun path to allow maximum natural daylight.
Phase 3_ Entrance adjacent to River Thames.
Phase 4_ Main vistas over looking the city from both the lounge and bedroom.
Phase 5_ Interior function subtracted from external elements to provide a cohesive and efficient interior layout.
