BJP wing to hold farmers' parliament in Delhi – Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal

Ludhiana, May 11th 2012 : Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Kisan Morcha will hold a two-day farmers' meet at Mavlankar Hall, Rafi Marg in New Delhi from tomorrow to discuss the issues plaguing India's agrarian sector. Farmer suicides, market fluctuations, lack of infrastructural facilities and loopholes in government policies will be among the topics that will be discussed during the special Kisan parliament, BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary and Jammu and Kashmir Incharge Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said here today. "Besides, Bills pertaining to agriculture tabled in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, like the Land Acquisition Bill and Pesticides Management Bill, will be debated upon during the two-day meet," Grewal said. BJP Kisan Morcha's further strategy to highlight farmers' issues will also be charted out during the meet, he added. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj will inaugurate the Kisan parliament on May 12, while BJP national president Nitin Gadkari and agriculture economist M S Swaminathan are expected to participate in its concluding session on May 13.
