The storks (Ciconiidae) are the only family of the Ciconiiformes and with six genera and 19 species distributed in all continents except Antarctica. Characteristic of these birds are the long neck, long legs and large, often elongated beak. All storks are carnivores, but the diet varies depending on the species. The most well-known stork in Europe is the white stork (Ciconia ciconia), other well-known representatives of this group include the marabou stork (Leptoptilos) and the glutton (Mycteria ibis).
