White storks are about 80 to 100 cm long and have a wingspan of about 200 to 220 cm. Except for the black wing feathers, the plumage is pure white, the beak and legs are reddish. White storks weigh about 2.5 to 4.5 kg.
The voice of the white stork is only weakly pronounced. It communicates by clattering its beak, which is why it is also called the rattle stork. The rattle is used to greet the partner at the nest and to defend against nest competitors. The courtship ritual is also accompanied by extensive beak clattering together.

Geklappert wird zur Begrüßung des Partners am Nest und zur Verteidigung gegen Nestkonkurrenten. Auch das Balzritual geht mit ausgiebigem gemeinsamem Schnabelklappern einher.
