The storks (Ciconiidae) are the only family of the Ciconiiformes and, with six genera and 19 species, are distributed in all continents except Antarctica. Characteristic of these birds are the long neck, the long legs and the large, often elongated beak. All storks are carnivorous, but the diet varies depending on the species. The best known stork in Europe is the white stork (Ciconia ciconia), other well-known representatives of this group are, for example, the marabous (Leptoptilos) and the glabrous (Mycteria ibis).
