I was driving to work one day in the right lane and had just accelerated away from an intersection. Wanting to change lanes I quickly glanced over my left shoulder. When I turned back there was an SUV stopped in front of me, waiting for a van to maneuver into a metered parking space. I recall muttering "Oh shit!" as my right front made contact with the left rear of the stopped SUV. I had not quite made it to the center lane. The hood came through the windshield and the air bag deployed. I felt a stinging numbness in my hands as they broke my forward momentum against the steering wheel. The horn blared stuck open and I felt hot liquid spread across my legs. Not only had I just incurred $14000 in damage to my vehicle but I had spilled my hot chocolate as well. Damn! This was not going to be a good day.
