This is by far my favorite photograph from my observation because it reflects what I felt to be the most peaceful concept learned. While the structures suggest a sort of peace between humanity and denote warfare, I also feel the structures suggest peace between man and nature.
When looking at this photograph (and at the fins on-site) I was so incredibly impressed by the small amounts of thriving grass and plants, thriving at the base of the fins. Although I believe it is the intent of the landscapers to keep the area mowed, it is possible that their machinery cannot come within close quarters of the steel. As a result, nature has started to take back its land and has created a beautiful arrangement of tall grasses and small flowers, like yarrow and clovers. Even more fascinating was the actual formation of the grass and its ability to imply meaning to the art. For example, I personally believe that these patches of grass represent the water that surrounds a pod of orcas as their fins emerge through the water. These grasses are the movement in water, making the artwork even more majestic and real. I found it fascinating that, probably by accident, nature was able to overcome and use its natural habitat and inclinations to add to the artwork, verifying the possibility that if we work together as one with nature, as a community, we can create positive change.
