Bubba's Cattle, Baylor County, Texas
Located on Farm to Market road 2395 about 5 miles southwest of Seymour, here's a small bunch of cattle standing beside one of the gates to Bubba's ranch. We don't know Bubba... never met him, but do know that he has great taste in choosing the kind of sign most appropriate for marking his property.
After several days of thunderstorms and heavy rain made back country travel nearly impossible, we waited two days to let things dry out a bit, then drove up to Baylor County to hunt for interesting photo subjects. After several hours of very muddy exploring, which involved numerous episodes of "back-tracking" to get around impassible muddy stretches and road closures, we finally agreed that a two day "dry-out period" wasn't enough, so we headed back to Newcastle. A few miles south of this spot (Bubba's), FM2395 was blocked by flooding so we went back to Seymour and finished our trip on paved roads.
Bubba's sign is a typical example of a detailed western-themed metal sign created using CNC machining. Most are done in steel, but we've encountered some made with aluminum. Sometimes the aluminum signs are multicolored, the coloring being produced by selective anodizing.
