A convenient place to stop for sandwiches and cold drinks, Megargel, Texas... Kowa 2x B&H anamorphic

Although this place looks a bit "rough around the edges", we did have VERY TASTY sandwiches and Ice cold soda here... stuff we brought with us in a cooler. All we did is use the lonely, weathered picnic table.

We were on our way up to Seymour where we were going to run south on Farm to Market road 1286, then follow back dirt roads to Westover. We decided to grab a few photos in Megargel where a number of abandoned properties and an old grain elevator looked promising. We unpacked our cooler and being careful to avoid getting splinters, had a nice lunch at the rough picnic table that hasn't been used since around 2003. We ate quickly because the sun, which was hidden by a mass of cauliflower-like clouds, returned and things got "toasty". After we got rolling again Susie took some phone pics of the temperature reading on the GPS screen, beginning when it showed an outside temperature of 109 degrees. She got as far as 113 degrees before her phone battery went flat. We knew it was a bit warm during our meal, but were glad we hadn't stopped a half hour later.
