Catclaw Sensitive Briar, Dodson Prairie, Texas, Iscorama anamorphic

Also known as Little-Leaf Mimosa, here's a patch of this stuff right across from the gate to Dodson Prairie Cemetery, about ten miles southwest of Palo Pinto. The word "sensitive" in the name refers to the fact that upon lightly touching a leaf... it wilts immediately, returning to its original state a few minutes later. Three leaves at the bottom center show this effect trom having been lightly brushed by my hand as I was working to get this image. The flowers are very attractive, fragrant "puff balls" and the plant looks like it might be welcome in a garden. The short thorns are curved, much like a cat's claws, and I've read that the plant is considered to be a pest... tough to eradicate in some cases. There are several videos on-line showing the wilting action, and if you absolutely must have this in your garden... seeds can be purchased on-line too.

Nikon D3500, Nikkor-H 85mm f/1.8 lens set at infinity, with an Iscorama anamorphic lens mounted on the 85mm, with the objective lens from a junk 800mm Bushnell astro-telescope reverse mounted on the Isco. Focusing was done by moving the camera forward / backward. Field width is 12".
