Goulong Robotics - Part 1

He surveyed the Singapore skyline illuminated before him, admiring the amount of companies he'd helped Ansui acquire. He wasn't one for nostalgia, but he found himself dwelling on the fond memories of the LEGO Group acquisition as he stared at the newly erected HQ. In the distance the Golden Lotus hotel stood proudly, a bastion of corporate meetings and economic dealings.

His thoughts were interrupted by the marching of shoes on the glass floor of the showroom.

"Your drones are very impressive, you must be very pro-"

"What is the meaning of this?"

He knew Zhou would not be pleased about their incursion, but the stakes were too high to worry about something as trivial as an employees feelings.

"In light of recent events Ansui has deemed it necessary to provide you with extra security, Mr Zhou."

"Reykjavík? So because of a break in halfway across the world you deem it necessary to invade my firm? What was the fucking point of you turning my life's work into harbingers of death when you're saying they can't even defend themselves?"

He knew Zhou harboured a lot of resentment towards Ansui following the acquisition of Goulong Robotics, but again, he did not care.

"Mr Zhou, your drones' capabilities are precisely why we are strengthening your security. You know your work is years ahead of our competitors, a gap which they will try to bridge by any means necessary. While your work is impressive, we at Ansui agree that you require humans to supplement your defense, there are too many flaws with just having drones protect themselves."

"Don't take me for a fool. You said my work would be used to help people, to make the world a better place. Your foot was barely in the door before you started stripping away their personalities and strapping guns to them. This is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to intimidate me."

The masked figure took another glance across the skyline. For a city so busy, it was one of the most peaceful places he'd recently visited.

"Do you know what it's like out there right now, Mr Zhou? Past the dazzling lights of your cosy city? There are wars on every continent. Hundreds are dying every day, so tell me: how would your music-loving drones have helped them before we came along, hm? Perhaps sang them a beautiful song about their homes being bombed? Written some lovely ballard about their children dying in their arms? Ansui is dedicated to making the world a better place, and your drones will help us achieve that with or without your consent, so I suggest you go get some sleep while we finish setting up in here."

"Tell your bosses I will not stand for this, these drones are still mine, not theirs."

"For now. Good night, Mr Zhou."
