Nature's Remedy
The little cares that fretted me
I lost them all today
Among the sand and sagebrush
And whirligigs at play.
While yellow poppies nodded
To a far and distant tune
Coyotes started singing
Atop a faroff dune.
As silent rainclouds gathered
Beyond a distant ridge
Small lizards ran for shelter
Upon a rocky ledge.
Bright flowers left me smiling
In spite of sand-filled air;
So now I rest much better
Within my easy chair.
