In 1962, Construction & Use Regulations were relaxed to allow use of 36ft. long coaches. Thereafter, some operators, North Western included, continued to use shorter vehicles, mainly on extended tours. This may have been due to some ferries not being able to take larger vehicles, and other restricted access issues on some itineraries.
AJA151B was one of a pair of tour coaches added to the North Western fleet in 1964. Three similar vehicles followed in 1965. All were Leyland Leopard L2Ts with Harrington Grenadier C41F bodies. AJA151B was photographed in Nottingham's Huntingdon Street Bus Station in June 1965.
