1857 GREEN DRAGON SLAGGYFORD 8884 DE-

Hunslet 0-4-2T 1857 'Green Dragon' (Built 1937) emits a haze of wood smoke as it climbs away from Slaggyford, South Tynedale Railway, with the 14.00 to Alston on 7th September 2019.

Repatriated to the STR from the Umtwalumi Valley Estate sugar plantation, South Africa, in 1997 and christened 'Carlisle', 1857 was rebuilt by North Bay Engineering, Statfold Barn and STR, in 2016, being converted to burn waste wood briquettes. It was renamed 'Green Dragon' to reflect its green credentials.
