2890 HUNSLET - MONOCHROME
Hunslet hybrid 0-6-0 2890 stands at Bury Bolton Street ELR before its second proving trip to Ramsbottom on 13th October 2017, prior to appearing at the ELR Steam Gala the following day.
The 0-6-0 started life in 1943 (2890/1943) as an Austerity 0-6-0ST WD No 75041, later working as Longmoor Military Railway No 107 'Foggia' before having its draughting modified to become NCB 'Maureen'. Subsequently it was preserved in Devon bearing the name 'Barbara' before being transferred to the Mid Hants Railway where it was converted to an 0-6-0 tender locomotive in the guise of Rev Awdry's No 10 'Douglas'. Now, after a number of years out of service it has been restored to working order in LMS lined black livery as a close approximation to the L&Y A Class 0-6-0.
