Ex LMS Jubilee 4-6-0 45699 'Galatea' raises the echoes of the past as it climbs vigorously through Edge Hill cutting Liverpool with the 10:31 1Z95 Liverpool - Holyhead 'North Wales Coast Express' on 19/7/2015. Galatea was a late replacement for 45690'Leander' becoming the first Jubilee to work through Edge Hill cutting since the 'Rocket 150' specials of 1980. On a previous occasion 45699 was scheduled to haul the Liverpool-Scarborough 'Coast to Coast Express' through the cutting on 13/7/2013, however due to the late running of the inbound stock the railtour was re-scheduled to start from Manchester Victoria with Liverpool passengers using service trains to reach Manchester.
The NWCE was routed via Broad Green, Earlestown, Warrington Bank Quay to gain the Chester line onwards through Frodsham and Helsby - hence the use of the Up Slow through Platform 1 at Edge Hill.
