GREY SEAL PUP - DONNA NOOK
One of this year's (2013) grey seal pups at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's Donna Nook Nature Reserve. Every November & December the seals give birth to their pups among the sand dunes of Donna Nook seemingly oblivious of the gaze of hundreds of visitors who come to see this wildlife spectacle.
The pups, when first born are covered in creamy white fur, which becomes mottled with grey, brown and black as they are weaned. Weaning takes between 16-21 days.
