Creise (A' Chrèise)

. . . taken yesterday (18th Jan' 2024) on a mammoth 30km walk over some of the so-called 'Black Mount' ridges.

Frustratingly, yesterday's savage wind-chill strongly discouraged any thoughts on leisurely hill photography. Even a down jacket, on top of many layers, only just provided enough warmth, as long as I kept moving.

During the traverse of the ridge connecting Meall a' Bhùiridh to Creise, I became engulfed in streamers of spindrift, carried on violent updrafts from Glas Choire. They were lit up gloriously by the dawn sunlight & seemed almost snake-like as they wiggled rapidly over the ridge & down into the abyss of Coire Easain. It's a magical sight I'll not forget in a hurry. The vicious conditions ruled out any hope of recording this moment of wonder, sadly.
