An Garbhanach, Sgùrr a' Mhàim & Glen Nevis

This trip, a few weeks ago, is partly responsible for the recent slump in my enthusiasm.

Given that these outings are ultimately finite, my poor use of a glorious morning (in this case) has altered my thinking. Such a waste of a rare privilege will haunt me for a long time. The usual lack of sleep & an unforgivably casual attitude to exacting an appropriate location meant that I had no right to be in that wonderful place on such a day. In the past, my considerable reverence for the hills would easily overcome any fatigue or ailment; this ability has noticeably waned in recent years & left me doubting whether I deserve to frequent the dignified serenity of the hills with a camera if I'm in no fit state to be there.

I offer this as an explanation & am in no way seeking reassurance through self-pity - despite how it sounds. I may be, one by one, losing the tools for the job &, as such, cannot promise any meaningful output in terms of quality or quantity.

I better stop now - & get over myself.
