Broughton Place & Culter Fell

A setting sun seemingly reveals every single ripple in this corner of the Scottish Borders area.

Culter Fell is a rare example of a Scottish 'fell', the Campsie Fells north of Glasgow, Arran's Goat Fell and nearby Swatte Fell are three others. A look at the map will reveal a multitude of place-name influences, prompted by a long history of incomers hailing from various foreign lands. Immigration is almost as old as these hills.

Culter is locally pronounced "cooter", as is its accompanying village Coulter.

This was taken from the curiously titled "Hammer Head", a terrific vantage point situated on the diminutive but charming Broughton Heights range. Perhaps not particularly wild or daunting, they are nonetheless agreeable & gentle little rounded ridges that offer fairly easy going & elevated insights on the surrounding terrain.
