The Ancient Town of Myra, Southern Turkey
Myra was an ancient harbour town in Lycia (today Demre). Myra was abandoned in the early Middle Ages after earthquakes, Arabian attacks and the clogging of the harbour. On the picture you see the antique theatre, there's also a huge number of rock tombs in the area and the church where St. Nicholas (later known as Santa Claus) was bishop in the 4th century. It is unknown when Myra was founded, but it's believed to be in the 5th century BC.
