Teamwork - David Sheldrick Elephant Orphange, Nairobi, Kenya

Major David Leslie William Sheldrick, MBE (born 23 November 1919, Alexandria, Egypt — died 13 June 1977, Nairobi, Kenya) was a Kenyan farmer and park warden, in memoriam to whom the eponymous David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) was created by his widow, Daphne (later Dame Daphne Sheldrick) in Nairobi.

The DSWT is dedicated to the protection and conservation of wildlife and habitats in Kenya. Best known for the rescue and hand-rearing of milk dependent orphaned baby elephants and rhinos, so that they can return to the wild when grown.

The name of the male elephant is Simotua. He was found in the Rumuruti Forest in a weak condition with a snare wound on the leg and a spear wound to the head
