Old Cocoa Farm - Cote d'Ivoire
Cote d'Ivoire is the world's largest cocoa producer, but its farms are also some of the oldest and most in need of rehabilitation. In all of West Africa, about 3.5 billion cocoa trees need to be replaced or rehabilitated. The average farm is family-run and about 1-2 hectares (just under 5 acres). With an average yield and a family of 6, it will provide less than $2 per day per family member.
