2019 343-365 The Great Escape

I had a dreamy shot of this chain, but then heard Moby's song The Great Escape in the car.

The lyrics made me think of Harry Houdini, so here is Harry Mannequini, bound with the same chain, in a tank of water.

Did he escape???

(His shoulders are 2.5" across).

The chain was given to me in 1974 in a small package of jewellery made up by my Grannie (with my aunt's help) when she was dying. I wore it for many years, until it broke, and was deemed too fragile. It lives in a favourite pot on my study windowsill.

I'll use a lock that has no key

Bind you with chains

That no one else can see

Let the water creep over your face

I'll send it in waves

Just to watch you perform the great escape

How long can you hold your breath?

While you hold mine, I'll come and wait

Just to watch you perform the great escape

I'll pull your arms tight behind your back

Use myself as weight

And wonder while you fade

How long can you hold your breath?

While you hold mine, I'll come and wait

Just to watch you perform the great escape
